24 열두 제자 가운데 하나로서 ②쌍둥이라고 불리는 도마는, 예수께서 오셨을 때에 그들과 함께 있지 않았다. / ②그리스어, '디두모'
25 다른 제자들이 그에게 "우리는 주님을 보았소" 하고 말하였으나, 도마는 그들에게 "나는 내 눈으로 그의 손에 있는 못자국을 보고, 내 손가락을 그 못자국에 넣어 보고, 또 내 손을 그의 옆구리에 넣어 보지 않고서는 믿지 못하겠소!" 하고 말하였다.
26 여드레 뒤에 제자들이 다시 집 안에 모여 있었는데 도마도 함께 있었다. 문이 잠겨 있었으나, 예수께서 와서 그들 가운데로 들어서셔서 "너희에게 평화가 있기를!" 하고 인사말을 하셨다.
27 그리고 나서 도마에게 말씀하셨다. "네 손가락을 이리 내밀어서 내 손을 만져 보고, 네 손을 내 옆구리에 넣어 보아라. 그래서 의심을 떨쳐버리고 믿음을 가져라."
28 도마가 예수께 대답하기를 "나의 주님, 나의 하나님!" 하니,
29 예수께서 도마에게 말씀하셨다. "너는 나를 보았기 때문에 믿느냐? 나를 보지 않고도 믿는 사람은 복이 있다."
30 예수께서는 제자들 앞에서 이 책에 기록하지 않은 다른 ③표징도 많이 행하셨다. / ③예수의 신성을 보여주기 위한 상징으로서의 기적(그리스어 세메이온)
31 그런데 여기에 이것이나마 기록한 목적은, 여러분으로 하여금 예수가 ④그리스도요 하나님의 아들이심을 믿게 하고, 또 그렇게 믿어서 그의 이름으로 생명을 얻게 하려는 것이다. / ④또는 '메시아'. 그리스어 그리스도와 히브리어 메시아는 둘 다 '기름 부음 받은 이'를 뜻함
0. 부활절 둘째 주일입니다!
여러분 모두 지난 한 주간에도 건강하고, 평안하셨는지요.
이 어려움이 언제 지나갈 지 알 수 없습니다. 여러분 모두 자기를 지키기 위해 열심히 노력하고 계실 줄 믿습니다. 자주 손을 씻고, 자기와 친구들을 위해 개인적인 만남도 피하고, 사회적 거리두기도 잘 하고 계시리라 믿습니다. 만남대신 전화하고 채팅하기. 가능하면 외출하지 않기. 이것이 코로나 시대의 새로운 표준입니다.
이 코로나 시대에서도 우리 주님의 평화가 여러분과 함께하시길 바랍니다. 여러분 모두 늘 건강하고 평안하시길 바랍니다.
1. 오늘 우리가 읽은 말씀은 요한복음 20장 도마가 부활하신 예수님을 만난 이야기 입니다.
제자들이 부활하신 예수님을 만난 이야기는 여러 가지가 있습니다. 지난 주일에 읽었던 이야기는 막달라 마리아와 다른 마리아가 예수님을 만난 장면이었습니다.
오늘 우리가 읽은 말씀은 도마가 경험한 이야기입니다. 다른 제자들이 부활하신 예수님을 만났다는 이야기를 들었을 때, 그는 도무지 믿을 수 없었습니다. 그런데 그에게도 부활하신 예수님이 나타납니다. 마치 유령처럼, 신기루처럼 나타난 것입니다. 그리고 그때에야 비로소 그는 다시 사신 예수님을 믿게 되었습니다.
도마가 부활하신 예수님을 만난 이야기는 오늘 우리에게 몇 가지를 생각하도록 합니다.
2. 예수의 부활은 단순히 죽은 이가 다시 일어난 것이 아닙니다.
그의 부활체는 이 세상의 물질적 차원을 넘어선 경험입니다. 그는 더 이상 이 시공간에 묶여 있지 않습니다. 누군가가 죽었다 살아났다면, 그는 나중에 다시 죽을 것입니다. 그런데 예수는 그렇지 않았습니다. 그는 그렇게 살아난 대로, 제자들 앞에서 사라졌습니다.
이것은 그분의 부활에 대하여 우리가 달리 생각해야 할 점이 많다는 점을 시사합니다. 그는 우리가 보통 생각하는 것과는 달리, 전적으로 새로운 존재로 부활한 것입니다.
3. 보고 믿는 것과 보지 않고 믿는 것.
도마는 보고 경험한 후에야 믿었던 사람을 대표합니다. 그러나 제자들 중에 누구도 부활하신 예수님을 경험하기 전에, 예수의 부활을 믿은 것 같지는 않습니다. 막달라 마리아와 다른 마리아를 비롯한 여인들도, 그들의 말을 듣고 나중에 예수를 만난 다른 남자 제자들도, 마찬가지로 부활하신 주님을 보고 만난 후에야 믿었습니다. 그래서 도마는 그런 사람들의 대표입니다. 보지 않고는 아무것도 믿지 않으려는 모든 사람들의 대표자입니다.
그의 이야기는 도마처럼 보고 믿는 것보다는, 듣는 것만으로 믿는 것이 더 낫다고 합니다. 오늘의 우리에게도 이 점은 여전히 극복해야 할 과제입니다. 오늘의 시대를 보지 않고는 도무지 믿지 않는 시대라고 할 수 있을 것입니다.
그러면 우리는 보이지 않는 하나님과 예수님을 어떻게 믿을 수 있을까요.
각각 이유는 다르지만, 우리는 성경의 이야기를 믿고, 그것을 근거로 하나님과 예수 그리스도를 믿고 있습니다. 이런 우리는 보지 않고 믿었다는 점에서 복된 사람들입니다. 우리는 부활하신 예수님을 믿고, 성경의 이야기를 믿습니다. 이것이 믿음의 세계입니다. 그것은 신비롭고, 기적입니다.
하지만 우리는 동시에 모두가 그렇게 하는 것은 아니라는 것을 이해합니다. 우리는 누구에게도 우리의 이 믿음을 강요할 수는 없습니다. 왜냐하면 강요하는 믿음은 믿음이 아니요, 폭력이며, 그 결과는 비극이기 때문입니다. 믿음을 생각할 때 우리는 또한 잘못된 믿음을 경계해야만 합니다. 이 점도 소홀히 할 수 없습니다.
4 코로나 시대의 신앙생활.
저는 오늘의 본문을 우리의 현재 형편에 비추어, 보지 않고 믿는 믿음을 만나지 못한 가운데 믿는 믿음으로 이해해 보았습니다.
우리는 지금 코로나 시대라는 아주 독특한 시기를 살고 있습니다. 마음대로 만날 수도 없고, 모여서 예배할 수도 없습니다. 어떤 이들은 일하러 나갈 수도 없습니다. 일을 하더라도 집에 머물며 일해야 합니다. 이것은 우리를 매우 불편하게 합니다. 그래서 어떤 이는 말하기를 이대로 가다가는, 건강을 잃기 전에 먼저 마음이 무너질 것 같다고 합니다.
함께 모여 활동하면서 서로 성장해 가는 것이 신앙 공동체의 특성인데, 지금은 교인들과 교회들이 모임을 할 수 없으니 교회에게도 큰 위기입니다. 하지만 생각해 보면 하기에 따라서는 지금이야말로 교인들과 교회들에게 새로운 기회가 될 수 있다고 생각합니다.
우리는 서로 만날 수 없는 지금의 형편만 탓할 것이 아니라, 오히려 주어진 환경 안에서 무엇을 할 수 있을 지를 찾는 것이 더 나을 것 같습니다.
지금처럼 집 안에 머물러야 할 때에는, 개별적으로 할 수 있는 개인적인 기도와 묵상, 하나님과의 내적인 만남을 키워갈 수 있습니다. 바깥에 신경쓸 일이 적어졌기 때문에, 우리는 남는 에너지를 우리 내면으로 돌릴 수 있습니다. 마음만 먹으면 우리는 더 깊은 기도, 더 깊은 묵상, 더 깊은 신앙으로 나아가는 연습할 수 있습니다.
전 세계가 인터넷으로, 사회관계망 서비스로 연결되어 있는 지금은 공간을 초월하여 서로 소통할 수 있습니다. 전화, 문자, 영상통화를 이용한다면, 직접 만나는 것 이상으로 서로 소통할 수 있습니다. 함께 이야기 할 수도 있고, 함께 성경을 읽을 수도 있으며, 함께 기도할 수도 있으며, 이렇게 함께 예배할 수도 있습니다. 이것은 우리에게 주어진 또 다른 좋은 기회입니다.
만일 우리가 지금의 시간을 이렇게 사용한다면, 이 시기는 오히려 우리를 더 건강하게 하고, 더 잘 연결되게 할 수 있습니다. 우리가 직접 만날 수 없어도, 우리는 더 든든한 연대로 나아갈 수 있습니다. 따라서 이 힘든 시기에, 우리의 믿음과 우리의 연대가 더 자라는 방향으로 노력하게 되기를 바랍니다.
보지 않고 믿는 믿음이 복된 것처럼, 만날 수 없는 가운데 믿는 믿음도 복됩니다. 이 복된 믿음에 이르는 우리 모두가 됩시다.
5. 기도- 사랑하는 하나님,
세계가 코로나 바이러스로 고통 당하고 있습니다. 이 어려운 시기를 잘 이겨낼 수 있도록 힘을 우리에게 주소서. 집에 머물러야 하는 답답한 상황을 잘 이겨내게 하시고, 하나님과 더 가까워 질 수 있게 하시고, 성도들 사이의 사귐도 더 깊어지게 해 주소서.
보지 않고 믿는 믿음이 더 복된 것처럼, 만날 수 없는 가운데서도 우리 믿음이 더 자라서, 더 복된 믿음에 이르게 하소서.

24 Now Thomas (also known as Didymus*), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. / *Thomas (Aramaic) and Didymus (Greek) both mean twin.
25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”
26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”
27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”
28 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”
29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
30 Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book.
31 But these are written that you may believe* that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. / *Or may continue to believe

Have you all been healthy and peaceful in the past week?
We don't know when this difficulty will pass. I believe you are all working hard to protect yourself. I believe that you often wash your hands, avoid personal encounters for yourself and your friends, and for social distance. Calling and chatting on SNSs instead of meeting. And you maybe avoid going out as much as possible. This is the new normal way in the corona era.
May the peace of our Lord be with you in this time. May you all be healthy and peaceful.
1. What we read today is the story of John 20 about Thomas meeting the resurrected Jesus.
There are many stories about the disciples' encounter with the risen Jesus. The story we read last Sunday was a scene about Mary Magdalene and the other Mary.
What we read today is a story that Thomas experienced, and we know his story well. When he heard the news of the resurrection of Jesus, he could hardly believe that. However, the resurrected Jesus appears to him also. He was like a ghost and a mirage. But He finally believed in Jesus who has risen again.
The story of Thomas meeting the resurrected Jesus reminds us of a few things today.
2. Jesus' resurrection is not simply the rise of the dead. His resurrection is an experience that goes beyond the physical dimension of this world. He is no longer tied to this space-time. If someone died and rose, he would die again later. But Jesus was not. As he rose, he disappeared in front of his disciples. This suggests that we have a lot to think about His resurrection. He rose as a new existence.
3. Believing with seeing and believing without seeing.
Thomas represents a person who believed only after seeing and experiencing. However, none of the disciples seemed to believe in Jesus' resurrection before experiencing the risen Jesus. Mary Magdalene and the other Mary, as well as other disciples, who heard Jesus and later met Jesus, likewise believed only after seeing and meeting the risen Lord.
Thomas represents people who don't believe anything without seeing.
The story of Thomas is saying to us to believe Jesus without just listening rather by seeing and experiencing. For us today, this is still a challenge to overcome. We can describe this world as a world of not believing in anything without seeing.
How can we trust the invisible God and Jesus?
I don't know for what reason, but we believe in the story of the Bible, and on that basis we believe in God and Jesus Christ. We are blessed in that we believed without seeing.
But not everyone does that, and Nobody can't compel someone to believe something. Compelling faith is not a faith anymore. It could be a tragedy. Whenever we are talking about faith, we don’t have to forget the danger of wrong or fake faith either.
We believe in Jesus risen, the story of the Bible. This is the world of faith. It is mysterious and a miracle.
4 The life of faith in the Corona era.
In the light of our present circumstances, I have understood today's text. I applied the faith without seeing to the faith without meeting, and without hanging around.
We are living in a very unique period, in the Corona Period. We can't meet together, we can't have the worship. We cannot even go out to work. Even if it is possible, we have to do this at home. This makes us very uncomfortable. So, some say that they are going to lose their mind before they lose health.
Due to the nature of the faith community that grows together and grows together, so it is a crisis for church members and churches. But after I think about it, I believe that it could be a new opportunity for us. We shouldn't blame the phenomenon that you can't meet each other, but you should be looking for what you can do in it.
It is also a great opportunity to nurture personal prayer, meditation, and personal relationship with God when we need to stay at home. Because there is less possibility about outside, we can turn our remaining energy into our inner world. We can practice prayer, meditation, and faith more.
We can't meet in person, but the world is connected to others through the Internet service and social networking services. So we can communicate beyond space and time. If we use phone call, text messages, or video calls, we can communicate with each other more. You can talk together, read the Bible together, pray together, or worship together. These are amazing opportunities.
If we use this time like that, this season can make us healthier and connect better. Although we cannot meet face to face, we can move to more solidarity. In this difficult time, I hope our faith and solidarity will grow.
I would like to tell you this : As a faith without seeing and experiencing is blessed, Growing faith without seeing together is blessed too. I hope we will move forward to the deeper faith in this difficult time. I hope we can reach a stronger solidarity.
5. Prayer- Our Loving God,
the world is suffering from the coronavirus. Empower us to overcome this difficult time. Help us to overcome this frustrating situation of staying at home.
Help us to be closer to You God, and to be closer to each other.
As the faith without seeing is more blessed, let our faith grow even more, even if we cannot see, to be a more blessed faith.
We pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
